slide.show.sunday.take 25.

Well that weekend came and went in a crafty blur of goodness!
Here's the quick recap slide.show:
Friday night sushi date with my Ben... mmmMMMmmm!

Saturday/Sunday I was running my Needle and Nest Design table at the Focus Fair Indie Craft Show... and it was an amazing.busy.delightful.tiring.successful blur!

It was a great group of fourteen local artisans to have a show with - loved spending time with sweet Lucky there too!

We were all tucked in to the Spill Cafe (a local cafe/bar) - a great venue for this 6th annual event!

Saturday family dinner night up at the in-laws.... Azriel tickling the ivories with her Uncle.

OOoooh and super fun... Ben went out and hacked down a Christmas tree for us..  so we got to decorate it as a family and get the living room looking all festive!

More Christmas-decor posts coming at you this week friends!
Hope you had a great weekend too - and a big thanks to all who made it out to support our local craft scene - it was a fantastic show!

...more creations from this nest.

Oh it's really starting to look like Christmas out there today friends!  I love those big snowy doilies falling from the sky... it feels like we're living in a snow-globe today.  I'm also feeling festive from all this crafting for tomorrow's Focus Fair... like a Santa's elf here.

During yesterday's peek at my pottery I forgot to mention that I will have my bird ornaments all perched and ready to sell too (above: Azriel like hers birds in a row).

And here's more of the goodies I'll be cramming onto my display table:
1. Doily earrings are back again (these ones are larger 'snowflakes').
2.  Deer painted stencils on cosy fabric hoops.
3. Bird painted stencils on festive fabric hoops.
4. New line of felt/embroidered brooches with wood buttons.

Currently I'm sewing up wrist warmers for the whole family - there will be toddler size and adult - all in a cosy deer knit pattern.  These are the 'fashion trend' to enjoy for yourself this winter.

Now, off to finish all the last minute details, and have a date night with my Ben!
See you on the flip side friends,

Creatively yours,

sneak peeks ~ pottery.

As promised, I'm going to show you a few more of the goodies hot off the press for this weekend's Focus Fair.  These are some of the pottered pieces I'll be selling...

The neck.clays are glazed in browns, honey and soft sea foam greens.  Some of the pendants also come with turquoise beads.  They've all been pressed with doilies to create the ornate textures here.  They hang from suede or wire bands.

My wee bird nesting bowls... a sweet spot for a pinch of salt or your favourite rings.

Doily pressed bowls in honey white and sea foam green.

More clay wrist cuffs with suede straps.

Hope you enjoyed seeing some of the treasures for this weekend's show.  I'll post a few more peeks at other projects I've been sewing.painting for it tomorrow!

Have a beauty.filled day!

handmade Christmas: [snowflake mobile d.i.y.]

Here's another festive home decor project from our nest.  Last time I showed you the advent flags I had sewn.  This edition spotlights the snowflake mobile I created to throw some 'snow' into our dining area - as I plan to hang it over our dining table for the holiday season.  And if you know me by now... you know it's going to involve doily-upcycling! ;o)

It's a super simple do.it.yourself project too.  Just go find a groovy branch in the woods (you could paint it white or red...).  I strung cut-out doilies onto fish line and hung them from the branch.  I also wrapped various types of lace ribbon around the branch (you could use colourful wool too).  I may still hang some turquoise ornaments from it...
Easy and delightful decor!

I was also delighted to score this large chair 'doily' while thrifting for only $2.50!  I love throwing these, and cosy crocheted ivory blankets, over our chairs/couches during the winter months.

Sure, it sounds pretty - but toddlers make a quick mess of home decor dreams...
albeit a beautiful. giggle-full. mess!

How's your home decor coming along for the holiday season?
I'm positively itching to go cut down a tree soon!

Nite!

slide.show.someday. take 24.

Better late than never, right friends?  Sooooo, here's what went down this past weekend in the ol' slide.show.sunday routine:

Friday night we checked out our friends group craft show Twinkle - so many great crafters there, and so many people (Caren's blog has better shots)!  My mom even popped in and clapped to some songs with our gal Azriel in the quieter hallway.

Saturday Ben baked up some yummy treats for his relatives Christmas dinner... our wee bonny lass gave her approval of his orange.chocolate.espresso shortbread!

Mama-daughter shot before our road-trip.  I'm loving my new boots!!

Needless to say, after an hour 'scenic trip' of getting lost on the highways... we got to our destination two and a half hours later... these are the times I miss a glass of wine.

This is how I prove to my in-laws that Ben married a real cutie.

Speaking of cutie, Azi did incredible for being strapped in a car for too long. surrounded by a massive crowd of relatives. and kept up way past her bedtime... (phew)!

We had the annual 'Secret Santa-a-thon'.... a.k.a steal another person's gift if you like it better.  I of course, got my pudgy fingers on some chocolate!

Sunday after church we headed down to Black Honey Cafe to get my paintings.  Turns out I had sold more pieces!  I'm also extending my stay - keeping paintings up in their back room this month, check it out.

Phew!  That was a full. fun. festive weekend... and I'm already kind of freaked that tomorrow is already wednesday!
Anywho, that's it for now,
catch y'all later!

there she sews again...

I think it's safe to say at this point that creativity is my narcotic.  I honestly try to find a moment in each and every day to sit down and create.sew.paint.... anything!

Having an upcoming craft show always helps focus my projects.. since my brain tends to bounce with ideas (and I force myself to stick with one task long enough to finish it before hopping off to another merry notion).  Seen here are some of my wee hoots - special Christmas version in a cheery cherry red!

Ah yes, tis' a crafter's life for me.  I'll be showing you more 'sneak peeks' of what will be stuffed.crammed.wedged onto my Needle and Nest table this coming weekend.  I'm really excited for the show!  If you're local (or can manage the road trip) I'd love to see you there!

Creatively yours,

sharing the love...

Sometimes this nest is positively bursting with cuteness... thanks to this lil' lass Azriel.
So what do you do when you cup runneth over with sweetness and love...?
You share it.
Yep.  You're welcome.

By the way, the usual post of 'slide.show.sunday' will hopefully be coming at you tomorrow!
See you then friends!
