wanderlust...

I think we're all getting eager for a new season, amiright?
Today let's just revel in some eye candy travel shots!
---------
Some places I've been:

Paris
London. Amsterdam.
Venice
Florence. Rome.

-----------
Further fuel to this growing fever of wanderlust:

Ok, that was just a pile of sweet torture.
I'm so grateful that I was blessed enough to travel in my twenties!
Sometimes Ben and I like to 'dream' where we may go in the future... if we rub two pennies together.

In these dreams I can still taste those Americanos, with a sweet treat tucked on the saucer.
I can still feel the cobblestone under my feet.
Feel the history, the culture in every facet of my surroundings.
le sigh.

Really, I'd probably sell my left arm just to sit in that claw foot tub and see that view out the window!

If you could travel anywhere... what place would you pick?

so predictable...

Yes, I'll admit it.
I'm a sucker.
Heck, I'm downright predictable when it comes to certain delights.

Like this darling teacup... with a bird on it?!
Sold.
Sure it holds like an ounce of tea (and I tend to enjoy a good litre at time) but it has a bird on it, friends.. a bird!
Yes, predictable me.

If you know me at all by now, you probably know a few other weaknesses of mine too.

Anything to do with owls, mushrooms, tree or feather motifs... I'm in!
Incorporate some wood grain, turquoise, lace or doilies... I'm delighted!
Follow up with a chunk of chocolate... I'm drooling

This is what kills me when I go in a place like Chapters Indigo and they're selling every element that makes me go weak in the knees.
For someone who 'prides' them self on being a sort of unique individual it's scary to see how pigeon-holed I am by corporations... ha!  Shoot.

This is a major reason I don't like to go shopping.
I know I'll see something that just craves adoption... and despite the moths taking up residence in my wallet... I'll justify to the death my need for said object.

The only things that keeps my splurge-impulse in check:
+budget
+ my ben

...I won't ever purchase anything that seems wasteful/extravagant (this 'tweet' mug was on sale for $1.49.. easy to justify buying that one)!

...I also won't buy stuff that I know will make Ben cringe and say "where are we going to cram that into our house?".  You may recall his hilarious rant about these issues.
Oh, the joys of a hoarder creative collector marrying a minimalist!

All that to say, I know stuff is just stuff...
...and 'he who has the most toys wins  still dies without them'.

My joy isn't rooted in possessions.

But these small and simple pleasures are a delight nonetheless!
How about you?  What gets you weak in the knees?

confessions [of a Mel] part.1.

I am a sucker for two things.  My daughter.  Batman.  Yes, put those two together.... and sigh, I'm hooked!  Now I'm sure most mama's out there can relate to my first confession.  Even last night I was overwhelmed again by how much love keeps bursting out of my little heart for my little one.  My eyes seems to starve for just one more glimpse of her sweet face... my nose burrows into her hair for one more inhale of sun-kissed baby scent.  Yes, I'm a sucker for her.

Now Batman.  No worries, you don't need to relate to this delight.  I just think Batman is .. the man.  From every era... he has been awesome.  Though I think the old school Adam West Batman is great for comedy.... the latest series with Christian Bale playing the role, is finally reclaiming the character for what he should be.
Little known confession.  Every so often I am Batman in my dreams.  Is that weird?  If I'm not him, I'm a sidekick.. that usually has to kill someone with a very ineffective weapon... like a dull samurai sword, or fork... or Phillips screwdriver.  Now... that is weird [these are often the nights my husband fears to sleep next to me].

Speaking of weird... here's a pic for all you fans.

Alrighty... have a super-hero sized day friends!

What dreams are made of...

[source: pinterest]

This picture is just too dreamy for words... how could I not share it with you?!  I know I should be tucked into bed soon, but this is what my dreams would be filled with - gorgeous turquoise walls that are aged to perfection.  A tree motif winding staircase.. yes, please.  The 'nightgown' may just have me wrapped up like a cocoon though!  This is eye-candy at its best....

... and I am in love with this fabric as well.  I would buy it by the yard and make it wallpaper for a dream room!  This is all the pretty fun I can handle in one post... hope it beautifies your dreams as well.. nite nite!
