sneak peeks: (jewellery crafting)

 Hey there friends,

As promised, I'll be showing some 'behind-the-scenes' creating shots as I prepare for the upcoming Christmas craft show.
It's been a whirlwind of creativity around here...  and the real key is for me to limit the amount of ideas spewing out of my brain.  Yes, it's a discipline to stick to my 'list' of what I want to create when other notions keep interrupting and squealing: "make ME instead!"

Lately, I have to keep reminding myself that while I can make a bazillion different things,
I should only make what delights me (vs. the torturous filter of 'will this sell?').

So, without further ado, these are my happy creations of late:
Paint dipped wooden pendants with geometric gold gilding!

(A clever way to hold the pendants while the paint dries = clothes pegs).
I think my craft table is going to be bursting with funky colours this year.
While the predominant themes will still be lots of turquoise and wood grain... since I'm such a sucker for them.

I'm looking forward to showing you more new works in the upcoming weeks to this show (Dec.8/9th)... so stay tuned!

For the record: this week is going to be crammed with d.i.y's/upcycling/projects!
Turns out my manic-creative-side likes to go in all sorts of directions once I let it off the leash.
(Also it's a free form of therapy for me when we've been locked in this house of sickly kids for the past week and I think I'm going to go batty!!)

Manic mama,
Mel ;o)

  1. Oh fun! Those are so cute. I spent the ENTIRE day crafting yesterday. A girlfriend of mine has convinced me I need to get my shop up and running again. She's even offered to help me with graphic design stuff for my tags, so I really can't say no when I have an offer like that on the table. I made 18 brooches yesterday! Most of them red, so they look like poinsettias. Christmas is coming, after all.

Good luck reigning yourself in and getting enough stuff done for the big show!

  2. Cute necklaces! Looks like you're having lots of fun!
I'm totally the same when I unleash the craft mind. Sometimes it's hard to start because I know I can't control myself once I do! Ha!

  3. ...like I said, "TWINSIES!" hehe... and yes, fun is being had here! Love the 'pressure/excuse' to be super creative at this time of year. :o)

  4. Thanks Nicole! Sweet of you to stop by during your '9-5' strict work schedule.... (?) lol! SOOO great to hear you're getting extra crafty there too.. you make lovely brooches.. perfect for the season too I'd say. Happy stitching! xx

  5. Here's the deal, I accomplished a heck of a lot today and even managed to read my blogs. Don't judge me!! Everyone needs a break in the day. Right!? Right!?! ... right?

  6. RIGHT! lol... well deserved for a first big day, congrats by the way! ;o)

Lovely necklaces and great colours too. I can't believe it's almost Christmas. Where has all that time gone?

  8. Thanks Agy! I know, its wild that we're only a month + away from it now!! ;o)

Thanks for dropping by our nest, I love to hear from you!
